Bridge Restrictions
- Until further notice, there is a 16.5 ft height restriction on all vehicles traveling the bridge.
- No wide loads / oversized loads are allowed on the bridge.
Motorists should expect periodic 15-minute closures between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. One-hour clousures will be advised on a daily basis.
Eastbound Lane Closures (West Bank to Elmwood):
- The left lane will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Sep. 3.
- No lane restrictions scheduled Saturday, Sep. 4 through Monday, Sep. 6.
- The left lane will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sep. 7 through Friday, Sep. 10.
Westbound Lane Closures (Elmwood to West Bank):
- The left lane will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Sep. 3.
- No lane restrictions scheduled Saturday, Sep. 4 through Monday, Sep. 6.
- The left lane will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sep. 7 through Friday, Sep. 10.
St. George Avenue
A section of St. George between Jefferson Hwy and Falk will be closed for approximately three weeks in order to perform drainage work. Please follow posted detour signs.
West Bank Traffic Circle & Bridge City Avenue
The westbound traffic off the bridge will be shifted from the existing roadway to the new paved sections at the West Bank traffic circle and Bridge City Avenue West. This shift is part of the new traffic configuration phase. Motorists should be aware of new posted signs and road markings. (Refer to graphic on the right)
Jefferson Hwy
- The right westbound lane will be closed in order to perform drainage work on the north side of Jefferson Hwy westbound between the overpass and St. George.
- The right eastbound lane between Clearview Pkwy and St. George Ave. is closed in order to perform sewer work.
- The right lane in front of Academy will be closed to perform grading and subsequent starting Monday, August 9.
The speed limit on the bridge is 35 mph in construction zones.
No oversized loads are allowed on the bridge during the work. Lane closures are subject to change based on weather, wind and site conditions. Alternate routes are the Hale Boggs Bridge and Crescent City Connection.
