Big Lift 3 Photo Contest

Contest Description

Huey P. Shutterbugs Wanted for Big Lift III!
The local community is passionate about the Huey P. Long Bridge. Even through constant traffic impacts and construction, people are supportive and engaged. The last two bridge segment lifts brought many shutterbugs, who then posted their photos on the HPL Facebook page. For the third and last lift, we want give all those photographers a special place to showcase their amazing shots.

The Huey P. Long Bridge Widening project now wants YOU to take your camera and capture the Big Lift III event. So grab a camera and snap away. Remember to have fun and think of what will make your photograph stand out. A word of caution, please do not enter work zones or roped off areas for your own safety and that of the workers. Photos must be taken from publicly-accessible areas such as the levees.   

Criteria
A maximum of five photo submissions per person allowed. All entries must be photographed by you and uploaded to photo contest site. A Photo Submission Form must be emailed to hueypbridge@gmail.com in order to be considered a contestant. 

Your photo must:

  • Be submitted in jpg/JPEG format only
  • Be between 640x480 to 800x600 pixels large
  • Not include watermarks (copyright, names, or other text overlays)
  • Not include a digital camera time/date stamps
  • Not include decorative borders

If a photograph includes a minor child, a minor model’s release form for each person on the photograph must accompany the submission.

Recognition
The winning photographs will be featured across various communications networks including the project’s quarterly newsletter, Website, Facebook Fan Page and Twitter.
 
Winners will also receive various Huey P. Long Bridge Widening Project promotional items.

How to Enter:

  • Read our Rules & Regulations. If you are under 18 years old, you must have your parent or guardian read and agreed to the document.

  • Point and Shoot! Have fun and let your imagination go amuck.

  • Upload your photo submission: Photo submission(s) must be uploaded to www.yogile.com/hueypbridge.  All photos must follow the outlined photo criteria.

  • E-mail Photo Submission Form: After your photo(s) have been uploaded, a Photo Submission Form must be e-mailed to hueypbridge@gmail.com in order to be considered a contestant. If under 18 years old, a parent or guardian must sign the form. The Photo Entry Form contains the contact information needed to contact you in the event you win. It is important you include the file name of photo on the Photo Entry Form to easily select which photo you uploaded. Only submitted photos with Photo Entry forms will be considered for the grand prize. In addition, if your photograph includes recognizable minors, a minor model’s release form must accompany the submission.  

Rules & Regulations

Photo Eligibility:
To be eligible for the prize, you must be at least 18 years of age or have your parent or guardian’s consent. Louisiana TIMED Managers, Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, widening project contractor and subcontractor employees and immediate family members can submit photos but will not be eligible for a the prize. Immediate family includes only spouses, parents and children. All photos must taken during the Big Lift III event tentatively schedule on April 9 - April 11. The photo subject must be relevant to Big Lift III event.

Photo Format:
Photo submission(s) must be uploaded to www.yogile.com/hueypbridge.  All photos must follow the outlined photo criteria.

Dgital images must be submitted with an entry form. Images should be submitted in JPG (at high quality) or TIFF format. File sizes must be less than 500K per image. Digital images will not be returned.

Image Modifications:
Minor digital enhancement is permitted, but images that have been significantly modified or appear unnatural will be disqualified.

Photographer/Copyright
Entries must be submitted by the original photographer.  

Number of Entries
An individual may submit no more than 5 entries.

Photo Subject Restrictions
Photos must be appropriate for posting on a public website. Obscene, provocative or otherwise questionable content will not be considered. TIMED Managers and Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development retain sole discretion as to what constitutes inappropriate content. Photos containing recognizable minors must include a completed minor’s model release form.

Ownership/Use Rights
Photographers retain the copyright to their photographs. By entering the contest, photographers agree to have their submitted photograph displayed on the Huey P. Long Bridge Widening Project website and social media sites and all websites affiliated with the project without any fee or other form of compensation, and agree that Louisiana TIMED Managers and Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development may display photos and may make and retain copies of the photograph for archival purposes. Photos will be credited to the photographer named in the entry form.  

How to Enter
Entry must be accompanied by a completed photo entry form. If you are submitting the maximum 5 entries, be sure to clearly indicate on the entry form all the photos you are entering.

Deadline:
Friday, April 15, 2011.

Judging
Once submitted, the public will be asked to vote for their favorite photo. The photo with the most “likes/comments/votes” will be the People’s Choice Award winner. The Judges Panel also has to discretion to honor other entries with Judge’s Choice Awards.  

The Judges Panel will include one or more representatives of the following organizations: The New Orleans Photo Alliance; Louisiana TIMED Managers; HPL spokesperson; DOTD and New Orleans Public Belt Railroad.

The Judges Panel will vote for at least one “professional” winner and one “amateur” winner, but it is up to the panel as to the additional entries that are recognized by them.

The People’s Choice Award will go to the photo that receives the most online votes (likes/comments) from Facebook combined with www.yogile.com/hueypbridge (for those with no Facebook access).

Louisiana TIMED Managers is not responsible for computer system, hardware, software, or program malfunctions or other errors, failures, or delayed computer transactions or network connections that are human or technical in nature. Furthermore, Louisiana TIMED Managers is not responsible for: (i) lost, misdirected, misplaced, illegible, unintelligible, incomplete, or late entries or (ii) any act, failure to act, or delay regarding the transmitting or processing of entries. Louisiana TIMED Managers reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel or suspend all or any portion of this contest without notice if factors beyond Louisiana TIMED Managers's control, including technical difficulties, disrupt or corrupt the fair or secure administration or operation of the contest. Void where prohibited. Louisiana TIMED Managers is entitled to interpret these rules as needed and its decisions are final. Louisiana TIMED Managers reserves the right to disqualify any entrant that Louisiana TIMED Managers has reason to believe is not the original work of entrant, or does not otherwise meet the contest rules. If a winner is disqualified or determined to be ineligible, an alternate winner will be selected using the same judging process/criteria described above. Alternate winners are subject to all requirements set forth in these Official Rules.
