The Florida Avenue Bridge Project scope is currently being re-evaluated. When this process is complete, the future project plans will be posted.
Please note, the TIMED legislation mandates a “new Florida Avenue Bridge over the Industrial Canal from Orleans to St. Bernard Parish” is to be built and the LA DOTD is committed to fulfilling this legislative requirement.
The schedule for the construction is unknown at this time. When the project scope is determined and design can resume, a better idea of the construction schedule can be shared with the community.
The project is funded by the TIMED four-cent gas tax established in 1989 and will remain in effect until the entire project is complete. A series of bond sales is helping accelerate construction of all TIMED projects.
