The new John James Audubon Bridge project will be constructed using the Design-Build delivery process.
Audubon Bridge Constructors, the Design-Build team, is currently mobilizing both design and construction resources. Personnel, equipment and materials are also being staged in order to begin construction.
Crews have begun clearing trees and other brush in both West Feliciana and Pointe Coupee parishes for the new bridge and road structures.
Construction of a work trestle on the east bank of the river has begun; construction of the west bank trestle will begin later this year. The trestle structures will serve as work platforms from the land to the location of both piers in the river and will provide unrestricted access to both pier locations throughout the duration of the project.
Piles are being driven for Bridge No. 8 on the east bank roadway alignment. Bridge No. 8 is the nearest bridge to the US 61 access.
Design activities are underway to allow construction in the river to begin later this year.
Please stayed tuned for more information.
